Dead CMOS Battery

On an older pc it is common .CMOS battery error occur. It is a common thing that CMOS battery Fail at some times , Normally the CMOS Battery Last for years. 

Below are The Common Problem Occur Due To The CMOS Battery.



+  You Will See An Error Message " Your System Does Not Match The Confguration.

+  You Will See that Date & Time On Your Computer Is Wrong.

+ CMOS Checksum Error.

+ CMOS Read Error.

This Problem Can Be Solved By Replacing the Old CMOS Battery From Your Computer By Putting New one.

Below Image Shows How to replace  The CMOS Battery.



Step -1



Step 1 : First Turn off Your PC  & Remove the power cable attached to your system unit and remove the casing.

Step 2 : Open Your PC Casing carefully.


Step 3

Locate Your CMOS Battery









Caution : When inside your computer make sure you're aware of ESD ( ElectroStatic Discharge)  and all it's potential dangers.

Tip: Some CMOS batteries may be held down by a metal clip or bar. This clip just holds the battery in place and the battery can still be removed by sliding it under the clip. Do not bend this clip to get the battery out.
Step 4

Removing the Battery







If Your Computer is using A Coin Cell Battery Similar To The Above Example Picture. Removing the battery is simple. Use Your Finger to grab On the Edge Of The Battery and pull it up and out of the container holding it.

These method may be different in  Some Motherboards because Some Motherboard Have A small Clip holding the battery down. Your Need to move the clip with your other hand to pull the battery Out.

Inserting the new battery

Make Sure You Put the Battery Correctly

Note :  Be sure that the battery is placed correctly (firmly) in the slot allocated .





Step 6


Verify the Bios And  reset the clock.




Once the Step complete, it is important to configure the BIOS settings:
Turn ON your PC.
Enter the BIOS.
Modify the date & Time.

Save and quit BIOS Settings.
